Come celebrate Earth Day at the Kitchener Market! While we try to celebrate our local, sustainable vendors each and every Saturday, we are excited to provide a few free, drop-in workshops for guests to participate in and learn something new. We will also have additional vendors onsite to highlight some of the great, sustainable work that is happening in our city!

7:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. - Visit our Earth Day Vendors at their tables!

9:00 -10:00 a.m. - An Introduction to Vermicomposting with the Worm Wrangler

• In this demonstration, we will explore what vermicomposting is, how it works and how you can get started. Topics will include the benefits of vermicomposting, how you can easily create ideal environment for worms to thrive in, and how to create a worm bin from scratch! You will leave with an understanding of what vermicomposting is and how you can use it to transform your organic waste into something beneficial for your garden or house plants!

10:30 - 11:00 a.m. - Learning About Bees with Ackroyd's Honey

• Spring is almost here at Ackroyd’s Honey and honey bees are getting ready to Spring into action pollinating all the flowers. Come and see the inside of a honey bee hive, how the bees are getting prepared for spring behind glass in a real bee hive, and see if you can count how many bees are in the colony or simple test your “Where’s Waldo” skills and see if you can find the Queen!
