How can academic and technology sectors support the next generation of leaders in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM)?
Wilfrid Laurier University and Vidyard present a moderated panel discussion that engages executive leaders within tech, academia and researchers from the Waterloo Region community about their role in building pathways for equity and inclusion in STEM education programs and careers. Many past efforts to increase equity in science have targeted girls and women, yet haven’t resulted in significant increases in representation in fields such as engineering. Pivoting to a systemic focus, this interdisciplinary panel will address the systemic barriers to changing the culture of science and asks leaders to speak to what they are doing to broaden pathways. Attendees will learn about recommendations for ways to increase equity and inclusion in STEM so we can all contribute to more inclusive science and research.
